Our operations have the flexibility to accept shipments by truck or rail.
- Truck – We accept closed vans, dump trailers, roll-off containers, pneumatic trucks and ocean containers (only closed vans and ocean containers at San Jose and East Providence).
- Rail – We accept boxcars and gondolas at Horne and Kidd smelters.
Delivery to our facilities is generally the responsibility of our clients, but our logistics specialists are ready to work with you to optimize the movement of your material.
Customs clearance and border brokerage is simplified by the use of customs agents who are electronically linked to our databases for contract and customs valuation information.
For most truck deliveries, we require clients to arrange appointments prior to shipment. This prevents truck waiting time at our facilities and reduces costs.
Rail and ocean shipments simply need to be advised at the time of shipment. For ocean shipments, Xstrata Recycling can arrange for inland transportation from the port to respective recycling facility.
